Sustainable thinking and action are a matter of course for us at EGO and are an integral part of our daily work. For generations, we have closely monitored the impact of our business activities on the environment. Our constant goal is to develop innovative technologies without compromising the environment.
As a pioneer in the development of low-hazard sealing and adhesive products based on natural raw materials, we are aware of the new challenges that our growth brings. Therefore, at EGO, we established a comprehensive sustainability strategy long before the introduction of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This EGO Sustainability Strategy was outlined in EGO's first Sustainability Report 2023. The report describes the company's values, strategy, and objectives regarding sustainability and includes forward-looking statements based on current assumptions and forecasts.
Today, EGO is a well-known brand valued for its high-quality, safe, and durable adhesive and sealing solutions, particularly in the field of sustainable construction. Our efforts have been recognized through numerous awards for our sustainability achievements.
EGO's history shows that companies can take responsibility for the environment. Innovation, investment and commitment can achieve positive effects on both the environment and society. Sustainability is not an obstacle to business success, but rather can create a competitive advantage.
Our chalk quarry in the Kaltenbrunn district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen plays an important role as a natural source of raw materials in numerous products since the beginning of the company. Starting with the original EGO LEINÖLKITT, which was one of the first products launched in 1947, mountain chalk also contributes to the formula of modern sealants. We started covering part of our energy requirements for our production with our own hydroelectric power plant decades ago.
Since 1984, we have been offering EGOPACK, a reusable packaging solution. This practical and clean cartridge sleeve makes disposable cartridges, which pose waste disposal issues, unnecessary. Furthermore, we introduced the dark recycled cartridge, made with 80% recycled content. Our goal is to transition fully to this type of packaging as quickly as possible, making a valuable contribution to the reuse of plastics. But at EGO, we don't just handle waste carefully. Environmental concerns are diligently considered across all operational areas. A responsible approach to energy and resources places high demands – even on technical expertise.
In order to further advance environmental protection and conservation, ISO 14001:2015 certification was achieved in 2018, and the publication of a sustainability report is planned for 2024. Driven by personal commitment and the requirements of the standard, continuous efforts are made to optimize environmental and sustainability processes and to implement them to the best of our ability. To meet the highest standards in sustainability and data transparency, EGO provides Product Carbon Footprints (PCF) as well as Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for its sealant range, along with numerous product verifications for sustainable building assessment systems (DGNB Navigator Label, LEED, BREEAM, BNB, QNG).
The largest digital network for sustainable supply chains not only ensures compliance with various legal requirements, but also actively drives forward sustainability initiatives from diverse perspectives. In doing so, it creates synergies that enable unified solutions across national borders, particularly within Europe.
In the area of digitalization, EGO is connected to bimobject in order to provide all necessary data for BIM projects. With the Green Deal, the European Commission aims to make the EU climate-neutral by 2050. By 2030, CO₂ emissions are already expected to be reduced by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels. The construction sector plays a particularly crucial role on the path to climate neutrality. It must become more efficient, resource-friendly, and therefore more sustainable. Construction chemicals are an essential key to achieving this goal.
The energy efficiency of buildings, both in renovation and new construction—is significantly improved through the use of our products by creating airtight building envelopes and preventing moisture damage. Our EGO Butyl sealants, particularly in window connection areas, offer the highest water vapor Diffusion resistance (sd > 1500 m), thereby making a substantial contribution to energy savings. In addition, our most efficient products are Emission-controlled and meet the strict Emission requirements of EMICODE, AgBB, and the French VOC and CMR regulations, featuring low VOC values. They are also LEED®-compliant according to EQ c4.1.
At EGO, our values encompass customer orientation, a strong commitment to quality and sustainability with regard to safety, health, and environmental protection, mutual respect, responsibility, as well as honesty and a drive for innovation, all with a clear focus on economic action.

In today’s world, sustainability reports are often perceived as a marketing tool. However, for our company, responsibility towards the environment and people has always been at the heart of our business decisions.
As a medium-sized, family-owned company from the Bavarian Alpine foothills, the protection of our natural surroundings has been central to our actions for generations, as has the close and trusting relationship with our team.
From the very beginning, we have always taken measures and made decisions that consider both environmental protection and the well-being of people. These include the use of our own renewable energy sources, resource conservation and waste reduction, the preference for regional raw material suppliers, and the utilization of our natural raw material sources. Additionally, we continuously focus on substituting hazardous substances and reducing emissions.
Due to their high-quality chemical base and the use of carefully selected quality raw materials from Europe, our products are among the most consistent construction sealants on the market. With products of this quality, energy savings of up to 25% can be achieved in window sealing during building renovations.
What we aim to achieve with this report is an in-depth analysis of our activities and processes to identify areas for improvement. From this, we have formalized and structured our approaches to develop a comprehensive and global sustainability strategy.
EGO manufactures sealing and bonding products for specific applications and provides transparent data for both the industry and sustainable construction. Quality is our top priority. We enable both professionals and DIY enthusiasts to access durable, high-quality products that are easy to handle. Our flexibility in variety and quantity is driven by the needs of our customers, offering solutions for both large and small challenges in sealing and bonding. Our goal is to continually improve the physiological safety of our products and to reduce hazardous substances and waste. We shape our future based on our tradition as a family-owned company.
